Stratford-Upon-Avon: The half-timbered building in Henley Street is of a type common in Elizabethan Stratford. Here, William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and at that time the building was the house and shop of his father John Shakespeare. The birthplace came under the control of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in 1847, and has been carefully restored and furnished in contemporary style.
